Piggybacking for Results

Our kids live such busy lives nowadays, with homework, chores, tennis, cricket, basket ball, scouts, gymnastics, dancing, playstations, TV, friends etc etc, it’s a wonder our kids have time to be just kids. So fitting guitar into their busy schedules can be difficult.

Making practice a habit is the key to success and to make something a habit it must be done at a regular time. Piggyback practicing is a technique that I have found works for most kids.

Piggyback practicing is attaching practice to something they already do every day. For example, practicing straight after dinner, in the morning after breakfast or when they get home from school.

Regular short 5-15 minute practices are much more valuable the one or two long practices.
